Ebay

Arthur Rank Hospice CharityA great new way of supporting the hospice charity is by donating money from your sales on Ebay. A percentage, or all, of the item final selling price.

Another way is to make a purchase from the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity Ebay shop!

Selling your items for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity on Ebay

Ebay has partnered with MissionFish, a non-profit service provider, to manage the process, so you don't have to.

This includes claiming Gift Aid on your donation if you have made a gift aid declaration, which means the HM Revenue & Customs (formerly Inland Revenue) will donate an additional 28p for every pound that you give to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

'Ebay for charity' listings are unique. All 'Ebay for Charity' listings are integrated into the main Ebay site, so buyers can find them easily.

Additionally, the programme has several unique features that help your listings stand out.

How it works

Individuals who support Arthur Rank Hospice Charity with their Ebay sales are known as 'Community Sellers'. To become a Community Seller on behalf of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity all you have to do is:

  1. Go to the 'Sell Your Item Form' on Ebay. In the "Pictures & Details" section, click the "Add" link in the area titled "Donate percentage of sale to charity.
  2. Select Arthur Rank Hospice Charity from the charity directory and designate your donation percentage (10% - 100% of the final sale price). If this is your first charity listing you will be prompted to create a MissionFish account, provide your credit card info to guarantee payment of your donation and consent to MissionFish User Agreement
  3. If your item sells, a £5 minimum donation or 10% of your item's final selling price, whichever is greater, is required. Ebay then generously donates the same percentage of its final value fees as the seller donates of the final selling price.
  4. Select PayPal or a credit card as one of the buyer payment options in the "Enter Payment & Postage" section.
  5. Complete the remainder of the "Sell Your Item" form and submit your listing

After your item sells, you collect payment from the buyer as usual. MissionFish will send you an email notification that includes the donation amount, as well as payment instructions.

If you have not made your payment by the second Monday after your listing ends, MissionFish automatically deduct the donation from your credit card. Then sends the donation to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity.

Leave a Gift in your Will

Legacies and making a will

While we are responding to the needs of people today, we also need to be confident that the needs of future generations will also be addressed. You can help us to do this by mentioning Arthur Rank Hospice in your will.

Making a will is a positive step; it gives an opportunity to provide for those who are important to you and to recognise them with specific bequests. By making proper provisions in an official document it is safer to make your wishes clear to ensure that your wealth and belongings will go to your family and those close to you.

Making a Will is a tax free way to make a donation - gifts to charities are exempt from inheritance tax.
We want to ensure that the care and support we offer to families and their loved ones is available to future genrations.

For help and advice on how to leave a donation in your will, it might be easier to use a solicitor will help you. We have however provided some information for you to consider before you engage with a solicitor:

There are 3 basic sorts of gift you can make:

  • A pecuniary legacy - a set sum of money which you can leave to either individuals or charities
  • A specific gift of a particular item or some property which you can leave to an individual or to a charity
  • A gift of residue is what is left of your estate once your pecuniary legacies and specific gifts are made, and all tax, funeral and administration costs have been paid. This can often be quite a sizeable amount. If you do not specify how you would like the residue to be disposed of, the law decides what to do with it, it doesn't automatically go to your closest family.

You will need to sign the Will and have it witnessed by two people who will not benefit from it. You then need to keep the Will in a safe place or perhaps at your solicitor's office. You may like to review your Will on a regular basis and certainly should do so if there are any changes in your circumstances - for example if you marry, get divorced or have children or grandchildren.

The simplest way of altering an existing Will is by means of a codicil. Again, this should be prepared by a solicitor and witnessed just like the Will itself to ensure that it is correct and your wishes are fully carried out.

If you would like some wording for your will please contact the fundraising office.
