Arthur Rank House provides specialist palliative care for adult patients and their loved ones from Cambridge and the surrounding area.

Originally an In-Patient unit alone, we now provide a range of services including Day Therapy and Outpatient clinics, counselling services and Hospice at Home nurses in the community.

Specialist palliative care is the care given to patients, their families and carers when the patients’ condition no longer responds to curative treatment. In this situation, quality of life and the needs of the individual become the focus of care.

Teamwork is the key to addressing these needs. The professionals and volunteers based at Arthur Rank House provide physical, psychological, social and spiritual care and have gained extensive skills and training in this speciality.

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity works in partnership with the NHS to support patients, their families, staff and volunteers at Arthur Rank House. This year the Charity must raise over £1 million to meet our financial commitments at the hospice.

The Charity's prime financial responsibility is funding the Day Hospice at Arthur Rank House.

The aim of the Day Hospice is to provide physical and emotional support and alleviate the anxiety and fear experienced by patients. Patients and their carers have access to specialist professional care, complementary therapies, art and craft therapies and the mutual support of fellow patients.

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is solely responsible for funding the Day Hospice at Arthur Rank House.

We are solely responsible for funding the Hospice at Home Service.

Hospice at Home provides specialist palliative care for adult patients at the end of their lives enabling them to remain at home if that is their wish.

Our dedicated team of highly trained and experienced nurses provide medical care, emotional support and personal care.

In addition to the care given to patients, the Hospice at Home nurses also offer vital support to families as they face the emotional and practical challenges of caring for a loved one.

The charity supports Arthur Rank House In-Patient Unit in many ways including:

• Funding several vital staff posts
• Providing free transport for patients and their relatives
• Funding our Bereavement Counselling service
• Supporting education for staff and volunteers via the Dr Tim Hunt Education Fund
• Running the Tea Bar and maintaining the Visitors' Kitchen
• Undertaking major refurbishment projects including the courtyard, Italian and Day Hospice Gardens,
• Hairdressing Salon
• Shower Room
• Library
• Rehabilitation Suite
• Single room
